§ Why is [ r a i n ] so {depressing}

A rumble came from the belly of the sky as thick, greasy gray clouds moved slowly across the atmosphere. The wolves of Midnight Pack crowded into their dens, smelling the sweet scent of rain nearby. Outside of camp, atop a steep hillside that overlooked the human village below, a giant wolf sat, almost as big as a bear. One eye was glazed over, and the other was narrowed with exhaustion. His shaggy, unkept fur did not hide the ugly scars that ran down his body. He was not an attractive wolf-- and most wolves were afraid of him. Nowolf could look him in the eye without flinching.Sadly, without anyone, he raised his huge head and began to mournfully howl as rain started to pour down from the floodgates of heaven. Do you find this valuable?

Mirror listened to the songs the rain played in his head as the cloudy sky loom over the forest. He looked up suddenly from where he was in the forest. He heard the sorrowful howl and listened to it with heart. He howled back as the rain drenched his gray fur soaking it till it slowly turned black.

Thistle listened in the shadows of his den to the cries of sorrow. He recognized his brother's cry instantly and felt terrible for him. he found himself tossing back his head to join in.

n a n u k; I get up, and sneak out of camp, barely with the limp in my step. I wait until I get out of camp to return the howl, saying "Care if somebody joins you" I stumble toward the wolf, not even seeing him yet, just following his sad howls. Do you find this valuable? |

Mirror listened. He pricked his ears hearing a pack of deer grazing not far off. He felt up for a hunt so he threw back his head and howled hoping some others would like to join.

Kludd turned his head slowly after finishing his last howl. As he bores his gaze into her, one eye blind and glazed over and another bright gold, lightning claws the sky.

Kludd blinks in surprise that Nanuk didn't run away in fear. So many wolves were afraid of him.

Suddenly a cloud opens above the hill he is standing on, and the rain lets up. A soft beam of sunlight begins to touch the wet grass where he and Nanuk are standing. Do you find this valuable? |
