Here the Admins of WFS present, a detailed explanation of how to create a cat, as well as a wolf section further down on the page.

Creating Your Cat

The Basics

Character creating is a fun, creative thing to do, for you have to decide many things--like how your character is going to look, what their past might be, if they have a plot, and many other things. But the best option is to start with the basics.

Name
Deciding the name of your warrior is extremely fun, but sometimes can be a little difficult when it comes to making a creative one. To get your brain working, start thinking of things in nature, or a word that may reflect your cat's personality, color, likes or dislikes, talent, or maybe even its past. For a name that reflects the cat's personality, it might look something like this: Sorrowheart. It suggests that your cat has a sad, mournful personality. To have one that mirrors your cat's color or looks, you could do something like this: Owleyes.
This says that your cat has eyes like an owl. Maybe a cat who likes singing could be named Birdsong. Now one that reflects your cat's past can be a little more challenging, but it could be something like this: Bleedinglove. That makes the reader think, "Hm, maybe her cat had something bad happen to it in the past, like she lost a love, so she's bleeding in love." Maybe they wouldn't think that, but it sure makes one think, and it may even attract people to RP with your cat more. Be sure to use words that a cat would know of, because Guitarfury or Chocolatemuffin might sound a little strange in a cat's world.

Description
Your cat's description is one of the most important things when making your cat. It tells people how your cat looks--meaning that it includes eyes, pelt, gender, and any other markings that your cat may have, like spots, stripes, scars, etc. Pelt colors may vary depending on the clan you look at, but most clans have a large variety. You can do red pelts, blue gray pelts, silver pelts, gray pelts, orange pelts, and many others--the possibilities are practically endless. Eye colors vary as well. There are blue eyes, brown eyes, orange eyes, green eyes, hazel eyes, and many other mixed eyes. An example of a mixed color eye would be like this: Deep blue eyes with blue green flecks. You can do a lot with the eyes. Now, when it comes to putting the descriptions together, a lot of people do descriptions like this:
Redfire-A orange tom with green eyes.
But that doesn't give you anything more to imagine, and that's no fun. So, for the description, try something like this:
Redfire-A firey bright orange tom with large, emerald green eyes.
When describing your cat, use descriptive words, and the person reading the description will be a lot more interested and will get the feel of your cat easier. But there is still something missing from this description--a personality. Your cat's personality is pretty much just as important when it comes to making your cat, for it would get quite boring if how the cat looked was all there was to it. Look at this here:
Redfire-A firey bright orange tom with large, emerald green eyes. Always very blunt and short when he talks, which isn't often. He pretty much only speaks when spoken to. He's very strong and muscular, and can lift extremely heavy objects--and even with this, he doesn't show of, for he has a modest personality and feels that it wouldn't be right to show off. He love nature and gentle things, and has a strange fascination with spider webs.
Now your cat is getting interesting. However, there is one more thing you could add, if you liked--your cat's past. This you can do amazing things with in the RPing world. Plots can be made, RPing threads could be done in a way that no other cat could do it, and it can effect your cat's personality later on. Sometimes a good past even finds you a mate for your cat! So, let's look at what a description with a past would look like:
Redfire-A firey bright orange tom with large, emerald green eyes. Always very blunt and short when he talks, which isn't often. He pretty much only speaks when spoken to. He's very strong and muscular, and can lift extremely heavy objects--and even with this, he doesn't show of, for he has a modest personality and feels that it wouldn't be right to show off. He love nature and gentle things, and has a strange fascination with spider webs. His past is quite interesting--he lived as a kittypet, almost, except his owners would never let him in the house--instead, they had him catch rats and mice that were lurking around the place. Redfire didn't mind this until they got another cat, an apparently bigger and better one, and they kicked poor Redfire out. So he barely survived on his own until he came to RockClan.
That is a longer past than most might put, and you can make it longer or shorter, or you can just not put it in there at all. That way it could be kept secret for a plot, or you could just let a plot unravel in your mind as you begin to RP your character. Whatever you do, just remember to have fun with it.

The Detail

Now that the basics have been listed, there are other things that we can delve deeper into as we create a character, such as making a personality and making a good past.

Personality
Your cat's personality is very fun to create, as I have demonstrated in the description making paragraph. But we can go much deeper than that. Let's take a look at what personalities we can do.
A sad personality: Cats with sad personalities sometimes are the most fun to play, for their personality suggests that they need help in their life. It also hints to a hard past, which is popular and quite fun to do when it comes to RPing. In order to make your cat have a sorrowful personality, I would recommend that you reflect that in your cat's name and past, and maybe even in their description. So you could do something like this:
Mournfultear-a shaggy gray she cat with sad blue eyes. Very pessimistic, and doesn't like to talk much. She fears that if she gets attached to someone, she'll have to leave them at one point, for she knows too well that every hi ends with good bye.
A bubbly personality: This is always fun to RP, especially in kits. Kits don't usually have too hard of pasts, but many of them do these days. But since they are kits, they still are very young and naive, which results in a bubbly sort of attitude. To describe a bubbly personality, you could do something like this:
Sunkit-a bright orange she cat with warm amber eyes. Very bubbly and talkative, and loves to mess around with her friends and siblings. She acts like she's the oldest when she's really the youngest. She often gets in trouble, but when you have her as a friend, she's a bundle of fun.
An angry personality: Sometimes cats are angry, and they bite back easily. They usually are jerks, but these kinds of cats can be kind of fun to RP, for they're typically unsocial, and yet they tend to attract attention that way. You might want to describe it something like this:
Furypaw-a dark brown tom cat with burning amber eyes. Unsocial and extremely unfriendly, this cat's bark is definitely worse than his bite, although whether that's true, you might not want to find out. He likes his space and glares at every cat, no matter who they are or what they're like.
A mischievous personality: this is a fun one too. These kinds of cats can sometimes be mean, but not like the angry type of personality. They like to get in trouble and usually have a bunch of followers who respect their "bravery", and get in trouble as well. If this is interesting to you, you could describe your cat something like this:
Ashpaw-an ashen colored tom with leafy green eyes. Very mischievous and always is getting into some kind of trouble. He has a large group of friends, and anyone who isn't in his "circle" tends to get playfully teased. He's quite foolish and naive, and doesn't really look or think ahead--he just jumps head first into whatever trouble he can find. He also loves to pull pranks--especially on she cats.

There are many, many other personalities out there, and you can combine them with pretty much whatever color of pelt and name you'd like--these are just examples. Personalities are a great addition to any RPing character, and you will most definitely not regret adding an interesting one to your cat.

Past
This part of your cat can be one of the most interesting parts to it--in fact, it pretty much makes your cat. But be sure to realize that for your first cat, you do not have to start out with a past in mind. A lot of people, including me, figure out their cat's past as they go, especially when they RP join. But let's say that you do want to have a good past in mind before you have your cat join a clan or something. Let's go over a few things when it comes to past making.

Take some time to think about plot lines you like, say, in your favorite book. What about your favorite character in that book? what's that person's past? What do you like about the past, or what's most interesting about that? Ask yourself questions like these, and this will almost definitely get your creative juices going. But be sure to make a past that would be possible in a warriors world.

So, making a past for your character can sometimes be like making a story. In fact, it is making a story. This story should most likely tell your reader how your cat came to be, how it's personality was formed, maybe how it came to the clan it's in--or wherever it may be. Let's say your cat had a bad past, where his parents had to leave him because of a war that could've been going on. They might've left him in the forest, where he wandered until he came to a group of cats that happened to be, let's say, LeafClan. Then he grew up as a LeafClan cat, and only later found out by information from another family member that his parents had died in a war long long ago. Or maybe your cat was on a journey to find someone. Maybe someone like a long lost mate, or sibling, and maybe they found them hostage in BloodGang, so then that could create a plot where your cat would have to go to, let's say, Tribe of Whispering Winds, and have them help to get his sister back. There are so many possibilities for your cat's past, that it can be intimidating--and very hard to come up with a creative one. If you're not in a very creative mood, but you want a good past, you can use some of the examples I gave, or base your cat's past off of those. Try and add your own touch. Or you could find another cat with an interesting past and interact with them--maybe they'll even give you ideas, and your cat and their cat could have a plot together. Like with everything else, when doing this, be sure to have fun!

Extras
One other thing that you could add to your cat would be the extras; eg scars, shapes on their fur, patterns, and oddly shaped bodily parts on your cat, like more toes on the paws than usual or a super short tail. Some examples of extra things you could add are:
Flat or curled ears
Scars
Shapes on their fur(hearts, stars, spots, etc)
Really long, fluffy, or short tails
A deformity/handicap(blindness, deafness, missing leg[s], etc)
Teeth missing

There are many other possibilities for extras--the ones I listed are just a few of the things you could do. If you don't know what to do for an extra or something, search for cat breeds like Manx, Maine Coone, Japanese Bobtail, American Curl, Scottish Fold, or Munchkin--those are very interesting breeds that might have something that you'd like as an extra on your cat. If those don't give you what you need, you can look at other breeds, look at other people's cat's descriptions, or consider your cat's personality if it has one. Maybe it could've gotten a scar from a battle it once was in. Or maybe it doesn't have its right front leg because its mother accidentally harmed herself during pregnancy. Be creative, and try something new and different.

Once you have created your cat successfully, to join a clan you go to the clan's page, then click on the clan you'd like to join, and under it should be a joining page. This excludes the ones that require you to message the leader. To find more on how to join, visit this page.

Maybe some good artists on WFS can make sketches of cats and if someone wants a pic for their cat they can just take the sketch and colour them? Just an idea.
